One of our first templates was Hubble, named after the amazing space telescope. We put the template up for sale on Wrap Bootstrap and it’s been a great success for us.

Today I’d like to announce the addition of HubbleOS (open source), our first open source template.

This template has been streamlined, the codebase has been updated and we have added a loading animation for larger pages that may take a little longer to load on slower connections. Pages such as the gallery that have a lot of images.

Don’t worry, you can disable the loading animation on any page in the template. Conversely, you can enable it on any page with a few simple lines of code.

Head on over to the HubbleOS page and take a look.

Tell us what you think in the comments below.

flatstrap 2.0 laptop

When we initially released Flatstrap v.01 I thought maybe 10 people would get a kick out of it and use it for a few projects here and there. I posted it to Reddit and HN late at night to see if anyone might use it.It turns out a lot of people seemed to find it unique and useful. Luckily I have a great hosting provider and have invested in VPS that took all the traffic with ease.

Here are the traffic stats from 1 day on the HN home page.

From all of that traffic we got 244 stars on Github as well as a bunch of different people contributing to the project. I’d say it’s been a pretty good success considering we never expected more than a few people to check it out.

With the help of the GitHub community we have updated the project to version .02, here are the release notes.

Release notes for version .02

  • Update to bootstrap 2.2.2
  • Added LESS support
  • Added minified stylesheets
  • Removed remaining rounded corners and <hr> gradient from the docs.css and from thebootstrap.css
  • Removed bootstrapBAK.css temporary file
  • Removed rounded corners, shadows and transitions
